Building a Community in Interesting Times: Christian Moran on Grant Town’s Cities of the Future

At the 2019 Grant Town Summit, Christian Moran gave a presentation describing the vision for G.T.E.C., the Grant Town Experimental Community. As technologies such as automation and artificial intelligence radically disrupt the society in which we live, humanity will need to develop a community of the future to adapt to changing times.

Christian describes G.T.E.C. as a community that uses emerging technologies to simulate life several decades from now, as well as a place where every person has the opportunity to self-actualize and create the life they want for themselves.

Grant Town Experimental Community, otherwise known as G.T.E.C is an upcoming new model of our current society. As civilization and technology progress with one another, this means that automation and artificial intelligence could eventually lead to unemployment as human labor will no longer be necessary.

Our mission is to create a community that will provide everybody with the opportunity to lead the life they want to live, with 0% poverty and 0% unemployment. As times move forward, we want to incorporate robotics to simulate what life could look like in 20 years or more. For example, our current education model was built during the industrial revolution and becomes more irrelevant as new technology provides us with everything we need at our fingertips.

Regardless of your background or income level, G.T.E.C wants to build a community that caters to everyone and pushes people to self actualization.

This community will have its own new form of government and rely on itself with utilities such as hydroponic vertical farms, laboratory grown meats and renewable energy such as solar roofs and solar farms. Our goal is to provide a diverse society not only in regards to race, backgrounds and ethnicity, but also in opinion and thought to change human life and society for the better.
